The SIGNAL IDUNA Group was formed in 1999 from the merger between SIGNAL Versicherungen, Dortmund and the IDUNA NOVA Group, Hamburg. The same Group's controlling companies are:

The individual insurance classes are organised in the controlling companies and other independent risk carriers that are run under the controlling companies under the legal form of joint-stock companies. We offer insurance coverage and services for private and commercial needs, provide capital formation and banking services and are strong in the area of asset management.

Today the Group belongs to the great German bancassurance groups with growing international importance.

A wide range of products is one of our strengths when it comes to private and business clients in the insurance sector. They range from health care, accident, life and annuity insurance to property, personal liability and motor insurance down to credit and fidelity insurance schemes. The Group has a private bank, a building society, an investment firm as well as an asset management company for dealing with our financial services.
We see ourselves as a productive investment partner and advisor as well as a capital provider for small to medium-sized businesses.

We live up to our high claim to providing service and advice by our close network of state and branch offices as well as by a qualified field staff partner organisation that works for us on an exclusive basis. The qualification and further education of more than 12,500 employees in inside and outside sales is a particular concern of ours.

We are represented abroad in Europe by insurance firms in Hungary, Poland and, since 2008, in Romania. It is our goal to become a market leader as an insurer in the growing markets in Central and Eastern Europe for integrated health care insurance. The SIGNAL IDUNA Group's reinsurance company is located in the town of Zug in Switzerland.
